The pictures
above, which were taken inside the Oregon National Primate Research Center within
the last three years (1998-2000), show the physical conditions and give some
insight into the psychological torture of primate experimentation. TOP: This monkey, with a surgically implanted radio transmitter and heart
monitor in its back, is involved in a study conducted by Judy Cameron at the
Oregon Center. The study consists of flying a remote control glider over
the monkeys heads and then measuring stress levels. BOTTOM: Two
monkeys cling to each other for nurturing in a filthy enclosure covered with
feces.
