RECOMMENDED READING ON THE SCIENTIFIC ARGUMENT AGAINST ANIMAL EXPERIMENTATION

Below is the preparatory reading list (remember,  you don't have to read everything on this list, though it would be nice...)

Books
(Good book Vendor [Civitas])

*Sacred Cows and Golden Geese, Dr.s Ray and Jean Greek
-most recommended, easy for the layperson to understand, very current, published in 2000, sections on AIDS and cancer
*For the workshop and in general for preparing to discuss the issue, Sacred Cows and Golden Geese is the most crucial book.

Why animal experiments must stop  And how you can stop them, Dr. Vernon Coleman
Good general outline of the arguments, good if you are looking for a short book, only about 100 pages

Slaughter of the Innocent, Hans Ruesch (or any of his books).
This is excellent if you want a thorough history of animal experimentation and its disastrous medical consequences from the beginning.

Lethal Laws, Alix Fano
Specifically about toxicology testing on animals, the complex laws involved and the damage it causes to humans and the environment . This one is dense but recommended if you really want to delve into the issue.

Animal Experimentation, A Harvest of Shame, Moneim A Fadali, M.D. Another well respected doctor debunking the myths of animal research

"The more animal experiments the researcher does, the more articles get published. The more articles he publishes, the more grant money he receives. The more grant money he receives, the more money the university receives. The more money the university receives, the better its reputation. The better its reputation, the less liable big business is when the university safely tests its new product and hence the more products they can sell. The more big business sells the more money for advertising and hence the more compliant is the media. And on the other hand of this cabal is the unwitting American consumer, paying through the nose for, at best, nothing and worse, ill health. This is not a conspiracy, this is simple greed."
